Some GOOD News | The Gospel of Jesus Christ

Sunday, July 12, 2020
This morning I awoke with good news on my heart, the best news one could ever receive was literally the first mediation of my heart. The good news I'm referring to is the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am just so humbled and filled with joy at the free gift that is available to anyone who has the humility and courage to receive it. I believe that this is such a good time to go back to the basics with all the confusion, hatred, and chaos evident all around the world. The good news is based on love, because God is love. The love we all long for that will fulfill our every need and fill us with a hope and peace we could never imagine. I've also created a video for this blog that you can watch here.

The Gospel

Some Good News!

I must admit that due to a lot of trauma I've faced in life, reading the Bible could seem intimidating and overwhelming at times. We read about a holy, all-powerful, all-knowing God who created everything and everyone. A God who had a design and a plan for mankind that was corrupted by Adam and Eve's decision to eat forbidden fruit.  Eve ate of this fruit through temptation and not understanding who she was and what perfect gift God had given her in the Garden of Eden. Like Eve, it's often easy to become deceived by what we see and hear everyday in this corrupt world. We all have a past before God calls us and trials that we experience afterwards. But, God is a God of love. His heart longs to be our God and Lord personally and genuinely, so that we can understand who we are and abide in genuine, unconditional love and be set apart and saved from the death and destruction of this world.

The good news is that this gift of salvation is available to WHOSOEVER. It is equally available to anyone in the world from whatever circumstance, no matter what you've done in your past and no matter what anyone else says or thinks about you. Your identity is in the God who created you, not your family or the culture you were born into. You belong to God and you have a place in His Kingdom. There is no need to prove yourself and there is not some ridiculous criteria to meet as in the case of exclusive clubs like we see in the world. All we need is an ear to hear. Equality, Love, Acceptance, Peace, Purpose, and Everything You Need is Found in Jesus. I woke up with most of these verses on my heart and I hope they serve you. The Bible is so rich and there is so much more to discover, but I hope these verses bring you life, hope, and the same level of inspiration they bring to my heart.

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ. Some Verses for Reflection:

  • In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness HAS NOT overcome it. John 1:1-5
  • The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world (Jesus). He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own own, and his own people di not receive him. But TO ALL WHO DID RECEIVE HIM, WHO BELIEVED IN HIS NAME, HE GAVE THE RIGHT TO BECOME CHILDREN OF GOD, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:9-12
  • And the Word became flesh and dwelt amount us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14-15
  • For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. John 3:17-18
  • And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because there works were evil. John 3:19
  • because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Romans 10:9-10
  • For by grace you have been saved through faith. and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, NOT A RESULT OF WORKS, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
  • Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and LEARN FROM ME, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30
  • For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10
  • . . . put off your old self, which belongs to your former manager of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:22-24
  • Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2
  • Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32
  • As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. John 15- 9-10
  • There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1-4
  • You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact that the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does to have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. Romans 8:9
  • But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.  Galatians 5:16
  • Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21
  • But, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Galatians 5:22-24
  • Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. John 3:36
  • If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

I hope these verses inspire you to realize that there is a higher calling in Jesus that is accessible to you today and to anyone who will have an ear to hear. For anyone who is weary of the conditions of this world and all its corruption. There is a God who loves you and who can change your life as you submit to Him and follow Him. There is so much more and I may do a part two on what it means to live out a Christian life.

Thanks for reading. I hope you all have a blessed day! Love,
